The owner of TikTok and Douyin is buying compute at a pace that puts it alongside the US hyperscalers. ByteDance lifted its 2026 AI infrastructure capital expenditure plan to about 200 billion yuan( roughly US $ 30bn), with Bloomberg reporting internal scenarios running considerably higher. Its most visible project sits in Ceará, Brazil, where a campus costing an estimated US $ 39bn is being built for 200MW at first and close to 1GW over time.
