for data centre products,” Charles explains.“ Forward-thinking customers like DC BLOX challenge our engineering team to provide data centre solutions that address their core needs – whether that’ s increased IT power capacity or AI capabilities.”
The technical specifications of the magnetic bearing chillers are designed to address multiple sustainability objectives, including energy efficiency and environmental impact reduction measures.
Charles adds:“ We have a solution using an in-house designed, proprietary magnetic bearing compressor. This proven York technology has very high efficiency and minimal friction that addresses multiple challenges for data centre applications. This compressor can handle both IT and AI workloads while meeting sustainability goals by consuming less power, using low- GWP refrigerant and maintaining a compact footprint. The manufacturing process also ensures a low total environmental impact.”
AN URGENT NEED TO FUTURE-PROOF With data centre rack densities increasing rapidly, JCI is committed to innovating cooling technologies that can accommodate evolving thermal management requirements. The company’ s approach involves creating flexible cooling solutions that can adapt to changing thermal conditions and increasing power densities. what the future data centre looks like and there are many potential outcomes.”
“ What we’ re doing is developing multiple different platforms of solutions that can solve that problem. That could be traditional, like an air-cooled chiller deployment, but we’ re also looking at water-cooled chiller deployments – water-cooled chillers with dry coolers – since water usage effectiveness is so important.”
The partnership with DC BLOX also seeks to reduce risk through collaboration between engineering teams at both companies, with solutions tailored to specific site requirements and future capacity projections.
“ Our systems can accommodate higher chilled water temperatures and higher densities. For vertical buildings, we can manage increased heat rejection within the same rooftop footprint,” Charles says.“ We work to eliminate or mitigate these variables to deliver the optimal solution while reducing the customer’ s risk.
“ As DC BLOX continues to expand, our focus is on maintaining our partnership as they grow and serving as a key supplier. Throughout this process, we’ re constantly optimising our solutions to provide significant value to DC BLOX, which they can then pass on to their customers.”
