IMDA-BCA GREEN MARK FOR DATA CENTRES
CHINA’ S INTERIM MEASURES FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF GENERATIVE AI SERVICES
Region: Singapore / APAC The mandate: A highly stringent green building rating system customised for the tropical climate of Singapore, pushing facilities to achieve sub-1.3 PUEs in incredibly hot and humid environments. Singapore’ s approaching Digital Infrastructure Act( DIA), detailed in early 2026, will take these previously voluntary Green Mark PUE benchmarks and turn them into mandatory baseline requirements for both new and existing data centres.
Region: China The mandate: Imposes strict controls on the training data used for generative AI, requiring that data be“ legitimate,” respect intellectual property and adhere to core state values. It also heavily regulates cross-border data transfers. These localisation and data sourcing laws effectively force multinational AI companies to build or lease physical data centre space inside mainland China to train their models legally, driving local data centre demand.
