Mark’ s team works alongside CDM’ s engineers from the earliest stages of a project rather than receiving a finished design.“ Constructability is truly a design consideration, and we work with CDM’ s Engineering team to ensure that all of the infrastructure fits, both inside and outside of the modules,” he says.
The scale of the shift towards offsite work is significant, Mark notes, and it changes what a general contractor actually does on site.
“ General contractors must now manage the prefabrication of up to 80 % of the data centre while it is being built off-site,” he says. The result, is a fundamentally different jobsite.
“ It transforms the jobsite from a build-everything-here workflow into a receive, set, connect and commission model,” he says, adding that the pace of AI deployments leaves little room for error in how that sequencing is planned.
“ The sheer speed of AI data centre deployments requires extraordinary planning and orchestration of both the modules and major site equipment,” Mark emphasises.
