META DATA CENTRES BRANCH OUT WITH MASS TIMBER PILOT
In a bid to meet net zero emissions targets across its value chain by 2030, Meta has begun piloting mass timber construction across its US data centre campuses. The switch to timber reduces the need for structural steel and carbon, and is expected to reduce the embodied carbon of substituted materials by around 41 % in administrative buildings – with further reductions possible as the company expands timber use into warehouses and even data halls.
