industry averages. They also want to understand how efficiently those resources are being used and whether technologies such as heat recovery can create additional value from resources that might otherwise be wasted.”
Measuring trust five years on On how the industry should track progress, and what success looks like for communities half a decade after project completion, Katie ties trust to the delivery of commitments made at the start of a project.“ Trust is earned when communities can see that commitments made at the beginning of a project translate into milestones met and key measurable outcomes achieved,” she says.“ Importantly, measuring trust can mean looking beyond energy and water performance to deep partnership with the community in support of its broader aspirations.”
Katie sets out three measures of that partnership: community infrastructure strengthened by the data centre; clean renewable thermal energy contributed to the area; and economic development enabled through a stimulated local supply chain.
She concludes:“ In short, the opportunity for data centres and the neighbours together is resource stewardship plus enhanced quality of life.” datacentremagazine. com 33
