Creating a Connected World: Data Centers of the Future
Proactive engagement helps to identify and resolve any potential conflicts in utility layouts, ensuring efficient and nondisruptive installation from the outset.
In the data centre industry, reliable power is non-negotiable – therefore, designing power redundancy pathways from project inception is vital. This involves implementing strategies such as N + 1 configurations, securing power from diverse sources through multiple substations, and incorporating automatic transfer switches( ATS).
To further enhance resilience, backup generation systems – including generators and uninterruptible power supply( UPS) systems – should be integrated into the initial design, with consideration given to fuel diversification. For the most critical data facilities, the introduction of a microgrid means that centres can operate independently during even the most severe grid failures.
Similarly, robust fibre connectivity is the backbone of modern communication. Early planning must account for coordination of the location of zero vaults with the long-haul service provider, with adequate conduit duct bank space for future expansion; accessible and expandable secure routing within the controlled perimeter; and diverse entry pathways to support both current data demands and future technological advancements.
