“ Employers can bring the sector to life through work experience opportunities, open days and site visits,” he adds.“ Education providers can help by connecting courses to the real infrastructure and local employers behind digital services.
“ The industry should demonstrate how a familiar service, such as an AI assistant, video call or banking app, connects to roles in power, cooling, networking and operations.”
Research backs the appetite for this kind of education. Telehouse discovered that more than half( 53 %) of respondents believe schools and universities should offer more programmes focused on data centre technology and careers.
Visibility also requires openness about challenges such as energy use and sustainability.
