When Snowflake announced its US $ 200m partnership with OpenAI in February 2026, most commentary focused on the acceleration of enterprise AI adoption.

Yet beneath the surface lies an equally significant development: a deeper integration of disaster recovery and business continuity principles into the very core of AI infrastructure.
The multi-year collaboration between the AI Data Cloud company and OpenAI, through Snowflake Cortex AI and the Snowflake Intelligence suite, is intended to steel enterprise AI against the operational and data risks that have dogged digital transformation for years. By embedding OpenAI’ s models – most notably GPT‐5.2 – directly within Snowflake’ s governed environment, the partnership represents a decisive shift towards integrating resilience at the platform level rather than as an afterthought.
