The FARICE-1 cable joins Iceland to the UK ; the DANICE connects Iceland to Denmark and then on to the rest of mainland Europe ; and the Greenland Connect joins Iceland with , unsurprisingly , Greenland , subsequently linking it to Canada and the US . Now , however , a third connection to Europe is being built - “ a connection between Iceland and the west coast of Ireland named IRIS ,” explains Cantrell .
