The company operates more than 108 data centres worldwide , although like other top tier hyperscalers like Facebook and Google , AWS tends to advertise their locations or capacities too loudly . Not since a WikiLeaks article in 2018 has the public known the full extent of AWS ’ infrastructure operations . Over the last year and a half , AWS has focused its expansion efforts on the Northern Virginia market , the largest and most heavily-saturated data centre hot spot on Earth .
