Condition-based maintenance delivers measurable operational outcomes The paper ' s most concrete claims concern outcomes already reported by early adopters. Compass Datacenters has recorded a 40 % reduction in manual interventions and an estimated 20 % reduction in OPEX compared with what it would have spent under calendar-based maintenance, according to Sudhir.
According to the paper’ s findings, unplanned downtime across the broader market can fall by up to 75 % where fault trajectories are detected weeks ahead of failure, allowing emergency shutdowns to become planned interventions with spare parts and expert teams pre-positioned.
Asset lifecycle extension features prominently too. " A UPS, for example, will typically last 15 years or so, but we think, because we ' re doing optimised maintenance on our UPS systems, we can extend the life to 20 years, maybe even 25 years," Sudhir says. " That means delaying our refresh investments by a decade."
" Condition-Based Maintenance is an optimised operating model for AI-era infrastructure that reduces manual interventions, lowers OpEx and extends asset lifecycle," Luis adds. " By scaling predictive analytics to correlate behaviour across every vendor, asset and failure trajectory, CBM enables operators to build machine-driven, human-validated system intelligence."
