Enabling future-proof networks, faster? Technology is obviously a critical focus when future-proofing data centres. However, Mike suggests that network engineering is currently overlooked within the industry.
“ Network engineers are aging and, as networking professionals prepare to exit the workforce, it’ s worth considering what the next-generation of networkers is going to look like,” he says.“ If you have built a data centre that can only be managed by highly-specialised staff, how will you recruit new talent? Essentially, if you have painted yourself into an operational corner.
“ It’ s not hard to imagine companies paying more for worse results because in a rush to future proof their data centres for incoming technology, they failed to consider the people behind everything they do.”
In order to scale responsibly, Nokia is committed to supporting data centre businesses to ensure operational resiliency. The company found success in this area in 2024 with its sales booming, partly on account of its data centre partnerships.
