EXECUTIVE INSIGHT
As AI and cloud services continue to boom worldwide , so do the energy demands for data centres .
As the backbone of the digital world , data centres currently account for roughly 1.5 % of global electricity consumption . This is expected to rise on account of greater customer need , as they seek to better maintain equipment , maximise data centre operations and reduce downtime . As a result , data centres may account for as much as one-third of the anticipated increase in US electricity demand over the next two years , doubling between 2024 and 2026 .
With this in mind , Data Centre Magazine speaks with Pascal Jaillon , SVP Products & Digital Accounts at OVHcloud , about how the company plans to scale in a sustainable way to meet rising customer needs . He also explains how AI and cloud demands require data centre operators to get creative with the environmental strategies to continue achieving innovation .
